Heineken.

Packshot created for Heineken's "Serving the Planet" commercial.

Briefing.
The original commercial showed a "longneck" which needed to be replaced by Heineken's regular bottle. It had originally been filmed using a motion control rig, which is a relatively costly process, so the agency responsible for the commercial (TBWA\) decided to go for a CGI replacement instead.

Software used.
The bottle was modeled using 3ds max. Rendering was done using V-Ray, and After Effects was used for compositing.

To replace the bottle as it was being put down, a texture of the hand was created using several frames of the original commercial. This texture was then mapped on a very simple (flat) hand model and animated using bones. This seemed to be a better option than painting masks to remove the original bottle. Not only because it was less work, but also because it allowed me to create a (sort of) proper reflection pass for the replacement bottle.
